Antonio Salgado is a prominent academic and researcher in the field of Health Sciences, currently serving as Vice-Dean for Research at the Escola de Medicina - Universidade do Minho since January 2021. With a significant tenure at the ICVS - Life and Health Sciences Research Institute since 2006, Antonio holds multiple leadership positions as a Coordinating Investigator and Tenured Principal Investigator. Notably, from October 2017 to October 2023, Antonio was the President of the Portuguese Society for Stem Cells and Cellular Therapies. Academic contributions include roles as Adjunct Associate Professor and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Escola de Medicina - Universidade do Minho from 2009 to 2019, and post-doctoral work at the University of Toronto. Antonio completed a Habilitation in Health Sciences at Universidade do Minho in 2018, a PhD in Materials Science & Technology with a focus on Tissue Engineering in 2005, and obtained a BSc in Applied Biology in 2000.
