Jean-Philippe Longpré

Senior Software Engineer at ICS

Jean-Philippe Longpré has over 19 years of experience in software engineering, scientific programming, biomedical engineering, and teaching. In 2021, they began working as a Senior Software Engineer for Integrated Computer Solutions, Inc. (ICS). From 2014 to 2021, they worked as a Scientific Programmer for HEKA Elektronik. From 2013 to 2014, they worked as a Postdoctoral researcher in Biomedical engineering for Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal - Université de Montréal. From 2005 to 2013, they worked as a Ph.D. student and Teaching Assistant at Université de Montréal. During their Ph.D., they led the development of an optimization algorithm based on simulated annealing in Matlab to find the best parameters of kinetic models describing the activity of SGLT1. Jean-Philippe also devised a novel approach using ion-selective electrodes to evaluate the turnover rate of SGLT1. From 2002 to 2005, they worked as a M.Sc. student at Université Laval, where they implemented simulated annealing algorithms using C++ and the MPI library to solve generalized Skyrme models on 1D and 3D lattices.

Jean-Philippe Longpré obtained their B.Sc. in Physics from Université Laval in 2002. Jean-Philippe then went on to earn their M.Sc. in Physics (Particle Theory) from the same university in 2004. In 2012, they completed their Ph.D. in Physics (Biophysics and Molecular Physiology) from Université de Montréal.
