Charles DuHadway

Director of AI Research at ICON

Charles DuHadway has a strong background in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence. Charles is currently serving as the Director of AI Research at ICON, where they are focused on using machine learning, optimization, search, and robotics to revolutionize the process of designing and building homes.

Prior to their current role, Charles was the CEO and Founder of Fox Robotics, a company that developed the first automated forklift capable of unloading trailers. During their time at Fox Robotics, Charles played a key role in building the perception, mapping, localization, simulation, logging, and sensor systems, as well as contributing to the navigation and safety systems.

Before founding Fox Robotics, Charles worked as the Chief Software Architect - Cloud at KUKA Robotics, where they were responsible for working on cloud, simulation, and learning technologies to improve current robot use cases and enable new ones. Charles also contributed to the development of KUKA. Connect, an IoT style platform for KUKA robots.

Prior to their role at KUKA Robotics, Charles worked at Google Robotics as a Tech Lead & Manager, where they led a team responsible for core perception, planning, navigation, and cloud infrastructure libraries. Charles also conducted research on market and technical risks for robotic products and applications in various industries. Charles also served as a Software Engineer at Google, where they developed technology, tools, and infrastructure for 3D imagery and played a key role in the creation of YouTube Slam, a feature that combined machine learning and crowdsourcing.

Charles began their career as a Research Engineer at Robert Bosch Research and Technology Center, where they focused on autonomous driving systems and personal robotics. During their time there, they contributed to the perception module for Stanford driving team's autonomous vehicle.

Charles has also gained experience in various other roles, including working as a Code Monkey at OnlineSagas LLC, a Research Assistant at Stanford University's AI Lab, a Software Engineer intern at Google, a Software Engineer at Lucion Technologies, and a Research Assistant at Brigham Young University's Machine Learning lab.

Throughout their career, Charles DuHadway has consistently demonstrated a passion for advancing robotics and artificial intelligence technologies, particularly in the areas of perception, planning, navigation, and cloud infrastructure.

Charles DuHadway completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at Brigham Young University from 2000 to 2006. Charles further pursued their education in the field of Computer Science by obtaining a Master of Science degree from Stanford University from 2007 to 2009.
