Marius Wernig

Marius Wernig is a Professor of Pathology and Co-Director of the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at Stanford University. An M.D./Ph.D. from the Technical University of Munich in 2000 and a Residency at the University of Bonn until 2003.

Dr. Wernig’s laboratory specializes in the study of pluripotent stem cell biology and neurons and was the first in the world to successfully generate direct reprogrammed functional neuronal cells from skin fibroblasts. He has received a number of awards such as the New York Stem Cell Foundation’s Robertson Stem Cell Prize and the Ogawa-Yamanaka Stem Cell Prize.
