Michael Bussmann is an accomplished physicist with extensive experience in the field, currently serving as Head of Department at the Center for Advanced Systems Understanding since August 2019. Previously, Michael has held various positions at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, including Group Leader, Research Fellow, and Junior Group Leader, specializing in research areas such as laser-driven radiation sources, laser cooling of ion beams, plasma physics, and computational physics. Michael holds a Diplom in Physics and a Doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) in Physics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, obtained between February 2001 and February 2022.
