Jean-Claude Martens has a diverse and extensive work experience in the automotive industry. Jean-Claude is currently the Head of High Performance Vehicles Department at Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center GmbH since February 2021. Prior to that, they held the position of Head of High Performance Vehicles Engineering Design at the same company since April 2016.
Before joining Hyundai, Jean-Claude Martens worked at Performance GmbH from February 2003 to March 2016 as Chef Konstrukteur. In this role, they were responsible for Prototype Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing of various vehicles such as F1, DTM, Gp A, Gp N, GT3 Cars, E-Vehicles, and Lightweight Prototypes.
Jean-Claude also has experience working at BMW Alpina as a Projekt Leader GT3 in 2008, Toyota Motorsports GmbH as a Senior Manager Chassis Dept. from March 1997 to January 2003, Nissan Motorsport Europe Ltd as Chief Designer from January 1995 to February 1997, Team Lotus Grand Prix Ltd as a Senior Designer from October 1991 to December 1994, Leyton House Racing Ltd as a Design Engineer/Aerodynamicist from November 1990 to September 1991, and Leyton House Engineering Ltd as a Junior Designer/Aerodynamicist from May 1990 to October 1990.
Jean-Claude Martens completed their education at two different institutions. From 1982 to 1986, they attended Katholieke Hogeschool Brugge-Oostende, where they obtained a degree in Industrieel Ingenieur Electro-Mechanica. Following this, they enrolled at KU Leuven from 1986 to 1989, where they earned a degree in Burgerlijk Ingenieur Werktuigkunde. The specific fields of study for both degrees are not provided.
