Ronald Walsworth has a diverse work experience in the field of quantum technology and physics. Ronald currently serves as the Founding Director of the Quantum Technology Center and Minta Martin Professor at the University of Maryland since January 2020. In September 2020, they also became a Co-Founder of Quantum Catalyzer (Q-Cat).
Prior to that, Ronald co-founded Quantum Diamond Technologies Inc in 2012 and served in that role indefinitely. Ronald also co-founded Hyperfine in 2014, where they continue to be a Co-Founder.
From 2007 to 2020, Ronald worked at the Smithsonian Institution, starting as a Physicist from September 1991 to February 2007 and later becoming a Senior Physicist from February 2007 to January 2020.
Ronald was a Faculty Member at Harvard University from September 2003 to June 2019. Additionally, they served on the Scientific Advisory Board of Butterfly Network, Inc. from March 2012 to July 2016, and on the Scientific Advisory Board of Quantum-Si from November 2013 to October 2015.
Ronald Walsworth pursued their education in the field of Physics, completing their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree at Duke University from 1980 to 1984. Afterward, they continued their studies at Harvard University from 1984 to 1991, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Physics.
