Richard is a partner at Hymans Robertson who specialises in advising pension scheme trustees and sponsors on longevity swap and buy-in / buy-out transactions.

He has particular expertise in developing new transaction structures and implementation techniques that save clients’ money and meet specific needs.
As a result, Richard has led some of the most innovative transactions in this space, designing the £5bn Aviva longevity swap, broking the first combined buy-in and longevity swap framework, leading the independent review of a new commercial off-shore pension de-risking vehicle, and negotiating the first longevity swap conversion to buy-in that transferred reinsurance from one bulk annuity provider to a competitor bulk annuity provider.
Richard is responsible for overseeing the quality of the regulated advice carried out by Hymans Robertson on buy-in, longevity swap and other insurance risk transfer transactions. He takes personal responsibility for ensuring the quality, independence and client focused nature of the advice in this field.
