Kevin Chen has worked in a variety of roles since 2009. Kevin began their career at Queen's University, where they obtained a B. Sc. Biochemistry (Hons.) in 2009. In 2010, they worked as a Research Assistant at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. In 2011, they worked as a Research Associate with the Queen's Genetically Engineered Machine Team (QGEM), where they were part of a research team working on a project in engineering the nematode worm, C. elegans, as a new solution in bioremedation. Additionally, they were responsible for sponsorship acquisition and presented at the competition. In 2012, they were Team Manager of QGEM, where they were a leader of a multi-faculty engineering design team in the field of synthetic biology. Kevin also combined science with dance and brought a team of dancers to the international competition. In 2013, they were Community Leader/Co-founder of Bricobio and Resident Biohacker at Synbiota Inc. Since 2014, they have been CEO/Co-founder of Hyasynth Bio.
Kevin Chen obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biochemistry from Queen's University in 2013, following their High School Diploma in Sciences from Immaculata High School in 2009.
