Matt Wentzel-Long

Aerospace Engineer at HX5

Matt Wentzel-Long is an accomplished aerospace engineer currently supporting mission design for the Power and Propulsion Element of the NASA Gateway lunar space station at HX5, LLC, since October 2022. Previously, Matt served as a software developer at NumFOCUS, contributing to the SunPy Python package for solar physics data analysis, and taught online introductory astronomy and physics courses at Stark State College. Matt's experience includes an internship at NASA Glenn Research Center, focusing on power generation feasibility for a miniature probe, and various teaching roles, including adjunct instructor positions at The College of Wooster and the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Matt holds a PhD and an M.S. in Physics from the University of Missouri - St. Louis, and a B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from Westminster University.
