Bo Liu has extensive work experience in the field of chemistry, starting from 1997. Most recently, they have been serving as the Vice President of Process Research & Development at Hutchison MediPharma since February 2018. Prior to that, they held various roles at the company, including Executive Director and Group Director of Process Research & Development. Before joining Hutchison MediPharma, Bo Liu worked at Shanghai ChemExplorer Co. Ltd. as a Senior Director and later as the Director of Discovery Chemistry Synthetic Group. Bo also served as an Associate Director at Shanghai Chempartner and worked as a Senior Chemist at Apotex Inc. Additionally, Bo Liu has experience as a Synthetic Chemist at Toronto Research Chemicals and has completed postdoctoral research at both The State University of New York at Buffalo and Texas Tech University.

Bo Liu earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Lanzhou University in 1989. Bo then pursued a Master's degree in Chemistry at the same university from 1989 to 1992. During this time, they also completed a Master of Science degree in Organic Chemistry at Lanzhou University from 1989 to 1992. Bo Liu further advanced their education by obtaining a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Lanzhou University, which they completed in the period of 1992 to 1995.
