Michael McFarlane has a diverse work experience in the coffee industry. Michael started their career as a Bar Supervisor at Blue Train Cafe in 2009. Michael then worked as a Head Barista at Mister Close from 2011 to 2014 before moving to Federation Coffee, where they held the same role from 2014 to 2016. In 2016, they joined Origin Coffee as a General Manager and later became the Head of Retail from 2017 to 2019. Their responsibilities at Origin Coffee included overseeing operations, driving sales growth, and maintaining financial targets. Since 2019, Michael has been working at Huskee, initially as the HuskeeSwap Operations Manager, where they developed and managed a reusable cup swap system and executed marketing initiatives. Michael later became the Partnerships Manager and is currently serving as the Head of Sales & Marketing.

Michael McFarlane's education history includes the following:

- In 2018, they completed a short course in Finance for non-financial Managers at The Open University.

- In the same year, they completed the Coffee Skills Program with a focus on Foundation Sensory at the Specialty Coffee Association.

- In 2017, they also completed the Coffee Skills Program, specializing in Professional Barista and Professional Brewing, at the Specialty Coffee Association.

- From 2005 to 2008, they pursued a B.A. (Hons) Degree in European Theatre Arts at Rose Bruford College.

- In 2007, they attended the University of New York in Prague, studying Acting and Directing.

- Michael completed their GNQV, BTEC National Dipolma in Theatre Studies at The BRIT School from 2000 to 2004.
