Assistant Director Of Student Support Services at Huron Valley Schools

Deb Case Parkinson has a diverse work experience in the field of education. Deb is currently serving as the Assistant Director of Student Support Services at Huron Valley Schools, a position they have held since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Wayne-Westland Community Schools from 2018 to 2022, where they held the role of Special Education Administrator. In this role, they were responsible for various aspects of special education, including diversity, equity, and inclusion development, social emotional learning curriculum implementation, and creating professional development plans. Deb also supervised a wide range of educational professionals and was involved in developing district procedures and budgets. Before joining Wayne-Westland Community Schools, Deb worked at Walled Lake Consolidated Schools from 2006 to 2019, serving as a caseload teacher for students with autism and other disabilities. In this role, they coordinated IEP implementation and monitored student progress. Deb also worked as a long-term substitute teacher during their early years at Walled Lake Consolidated Schools. Deb Case Parkinson has an extensive education history. Deb began their academic journey at Eastern Michigan University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from 2003 to 2006. Building on this foundation, they went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Special Education from the University of Phoenix between 2007 and 2009. Their studies focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Communication Impairment (CI), Early Intervention (EI), and Learning Disabilities (LD).

To further enhance their skills and knowledge, Deb pursued additional certifications. In 2021, they became a CPI Certified Instructor - Master Level, completing this certification through the Crisis Prevention Institute.

Continuing their educational pursuits, they attended Oakland University from 2009 to 2010 and earned an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) certification addition to a Master of Arts in Special Education. This program provided their with expertise in areas such as autism assessment, planning, programming, and teaching.

Deb's dedication to education did not end there. Deb sought further academic growth and enrolled at Grand Valley State University in 2011, where they completed a Specialist/POST Master's program in Administration. During this period, they also pursued a Special Education Administration with a focus on K-12 General Education Administration. These programs allowed their to develop skills in educational leadership and administration.

Through their diverse educational experiences and certifications, Deb Case Parkinson has acquired a strong background in psychology, special education, educational administration, and autism spectrum disorder.
