L. Scott Stephens has worked in various roles since 1999. In 2012, they founded and served as an executive at Hummingbird Nano, Inc., a company that manufactures plastic parts with microfluidic channels for diagnostic, sensing, aspirating and other applications. L. Scott is the world leader in the development of configurable liquid molding technology. Since 1999, they have also served as a professor and past chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kentucky. L. Scott'sresearch interests focus on all aspects of machine design, including conventional bearings and seals, surface textures, magnetic bearings, magnetic actuation, heat transfer, mechanics of fluid flow and manufacturing systems.
L. Scott Stephens received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical and Aerospece Engineering from the University of Virginia in 1995. L. Scott also obtained their Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky between 1987 and 1989.
