Axel Luchterhand began their work experience in 2010 at Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft as a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter. From March 2010 to July 2011, they held this role. In September 2010, they started working at Humedics GmbH as a Development Engineer and stayed in that position until September 2014. From October 2014 to December 2017, they were a Manager Technology at Humedics GmbH. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Engineering at Humedics GmbH, starting in January 2018.

From 2003 to 2010, Axel Luchterhand attended Freie Universität Berlin, where they obtained a Diplom in Physics.
