Dr. Andrew West has a diverse work experience. Currently, they are the Co-Founder of Lipoxagen, a company that they started in 2022. Prior to this, they held multiple positions at various organizations. From 2017, they worked at Matū Group as the General Partner, Co-Founder, and Limited Partner. Matū Group focuses on investing in deep technology companies that tackle societal challenges. Additionally, they served as the Chairman of the Board and Shareholder at Lanaco and Ligar since 2017. In 2016, they were the Managing Director and Shareholder of Bioceta Ltd. Furthermore, they held leadership positions as the Chairman of the Board at Soda Inc. (2019), Te Whāi Ao Group Ltd (2020), and humble bee bio (2019), and as the Chief Technology Officer at Te Awanui Huka Pak Limited (2020). Dr. West is also a Board Member at Whangara Farms since 2022.
Dr. Andrew West's education history is as follows:
Dr. West attended Hitherfield Primary School from 1961 to 1967, where they completed their primary education. Dr Andrew then attended Battersea Grammar School from 1967 to 1974, where they earned their A levels in Science.
After completing their A levels, Dr. West enrolled at the University of Westminster, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Ecology from 1974 to 1978. Dr Andrew further pursued their studies at the same university and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Ecology from 1978 to 1982.
Later on, Dr. West attended Victoria University of Wellington from 1989 to 1991, where they pursued a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree in Commerce.
In addition to their academic degrees, Dr. West acquired a professional qualification as a Chartered Director from the Institute of Directors in New Zealand in 1993.
