Stephanie Hancock has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of journalism and communications. Stephanie started their career as a Staff Writer at Rex Features in 2003 and later worked as a Reporter at the East London Advertiser newspaper, covering local stories from 2003 to 2005. From there, they moved on to BBC News, where they held the role of Chad correspondent, filing radio reports for BBC World Service and producing reports for BBC World TV. During their time at BBC News, they also contributed articles to BBC Online.

In 2005, Stephanie joined Thomson Reuters as a Chad correspondent, reporting on topics such as the Darfur refugee crisis and inter-ethnic violence. Stephanie filed news and feature articles and also filmed and edited news reports for Reuters' Africa Dailies service and TV features for Reuters' Africa Journal.

Stephanie's next career move was to Mail & Guardian Africa, where they worked as a Contributor from 2006 to 2008. During this time, they contributed to the publication with their writing.

Most recently, Stephanie served as the Media Manager and Associate Director of Internal Communications at Human Rights Watch (HRW). Stephanie was also responsible for writing, editing, and broadcasting for HRW, producing social media content, and representing the organization at major events.
