Sierra Nelson is a seasoned creative writing educator with extensive experience in literary instruction and mentorship. Since May 2010, Sierra has served as the lead instructor for creative writing classes at Richard Hugo House, a prominent literary arts center. Additionally, since October 2009, Sierra has been a senior writer-in-residence at Seattle Childrenās Hospital, mentoring young patients in various forms of creative writing. Sierra's academic roles include temporary lecturing at the University of Washington's Friday Harbor Laboratories, where Sierra co-led undergraduate courses, and participation in the University of Washington Creative Writing in Rome Program, where curriculum development and leadership of study abroad courses were key responsibilities. Sierra holds an MFA in Poetry from the University of Washington and a BA in English Literature from Vassar College.
