Yianni Michalas is a senior program director at Hughes, with over 23 years of experience in satellite communications and project management. Michalas has managed significant projects such as the ONEWEB project, overseeing ground network development, and served as deputy program manager for the MEXSAT project, leading a 50-person team through all project phases. Prior roles include program management for ICO Satellite Systems and multiple contracts for TerreStar Communications Networks, demonstrating expertise in system design, production, and implementation of satellite systems. Earlier in their career, Michalas worked as an engineer in satellite systems development and conducted research on wireless networks as a graduate assistant and fellow at the University of Maryland. Michalas holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland and dual degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Economics from The Johns Hopkins University.
