Shang Yi Lim has held a variety of roles in the tech industry since 2009. In 2010, they were an ASP.NET Workshop Trainer at both Tunku Abdul Rahman College and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. In 2011, they were a S/W Customer Support Trainee at Swisslog. In 2012, they were a Senior Software Developer at Ezypay and a Windows 8 C# XAML Trainer at Microsoft Malaysia. In 2018, they were a Senior Software Engineer at IdealHub, a Google Developer Experts Firebase at Google Developers Experts Program, and a Community Lead at Google Developer Groups Kuala Lumpur (GDG KL). In 2020, they began their current role as a Staff Software Engineer and Chapter Lead (Mobile) at Hubble, where their primary responsibilities involve mentoring mobile team members and making architecture decisions.

Shang Yi also attended Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology from 2010 to 2012, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Information Technology.
