James Newman has extensive experience in educational leadership, primarily with Houston ISD since May 2002, where currently serves as Senior Manager for Academic Instructional Technology. In this role, James leads a team of Ed Tech Specialists, supporting technology integration and instructional design across over 250 PK-12 campuses and successfully implemented district-wide initiatives such as Canvas LMS. Previous positions include Manager of Teacher Development, providing training and coaching to improve teaching practices in underserved schools, and Teacher Development Specialist, focusing on professional development and curriculum resource development in math and science for elementary educators. Additionally, James serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of St. Thomas, teaching Essentials of Elementary Mathematics, and has facilitated training for the Smithsonian Institution's Laser i3 Program. James holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Houston-Downtown and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of St. Thomas.
