Mark Scott

On June 1, 2014, Dr. Mark Scott began his tenure as the Superintendent of Schools for Houston County. Prior to becoming Superintendent, Dr. Scott served as the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources from 2011 to 2014 and as the Principal of Northside High School from 2008 to 2011. An educator for 33 years, he spent 10 years in the classroom before becoming an Assistant Principal at Baldwin High School in Milledgeville, Georgia. In 2000, Dr. Scott was named Principal at Oak Hill Middle School, also in Milledgeville, where he served 8 years.

He earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Mercer University and a Specialist in Educational Leadership from Georgia College & State University. In addition, he earned a Master of Technological Studies and Bachelor of Trade and Industrial Education, both from the University of Georgia. A native of Milledgeville, he graduated from Georgia Military College Prep School in 1984.

Dr. Scott has been married to the former Tina McCullars for 31 years. Tina is the bookkeeper at Northside Middle School. They have a son, Langdon, who graduated from Northside High School. Dr. Scott is an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, loves the challenge of a good brain teaser, and enjoys spending time outdoors.
