Katie Smith started their work experience as a Pool Attendant at The Marina at Marina Shores in May 2014 and worked there until August 2019. In September 2019, they became an America Reads Tutor at James Madison University, a position they held until May 2020. Katie then joined Kjellstrom and Lee, Inc. in May 2021 as a Project Engineer Intern and completed their internship in August 2021. Currently, they are working as a Project Engineer at Hourigan from July 2022 onwards.

Katie Smith completed their education by earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Engineering from James Madison University. Katie attended the university from 2017 to 2022. In addition to their academic qualifications, Katie also obtained several certifications from Procore Technologies. Katie became Procore Certified in various areas including Project Manager (Quality & Safety), Core Tools, and Project Management. These certifications were obtained in May and June of 2021.
