Tyler Matta is currently the Vice President of Learning Science Engineering at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, leading a globally distributed team of over 20 staff members in machine learning engineering, ontology and data engineering, cognitive science, and product management. Matta has a strong track record in research and development, having previously established an R&D organization at HMH and served as Principal Scientist at NWEA before its acquisition by HMH. Additionally, Matta has been an instructor at both the University of Oregon and Oregon State University, teaching graduate-level courses in quantitative methods and structural equation modeling. With experience at Pearson as Senior Research Director and involvement in various research roles across multiple institutions, Matta holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership with a focus on Quantitative Methodology from the University of Oregon.
