Cathy Kim has gained extensive work experience in various roles across multiple organizations. Cathy began their career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in South Africa from 2003 to 2005. Following this, they worked as a Project Associate at the Urban Homesteading Assistance Board from 2005 to 2007. Cathy then joined The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as a Fellow from 2009 to 2011.

In 2011, Cathy transitioned to the New York City Housing Authority, where they held multiple roles within the Office of Resident Economic Empowerment & Sustainability (REES). Cathy started as a Zone Coordinator from 2011 to 2012, where they facilitated the development and implementation of strategies to increase NYCHA residents' access to economic opportunities. Cathy then became a Jobs-Plus Program Coordinator from 2012 to 2013, where they represented NYCHA in the Interagency Jobs-Plus Expansion Collaborative and supported partnerships with local organizations and resident leadership. From 2013 to 2014, they served as the Assistant Director of Zone Coordination, managing a team and implementing systems to connect residents to critical services.

Cathy expanded their career by joining Enterprise Community Partners in 2014. Over the course of five years, they held various positions, including Program Officer, Senior Program Officer, and Program Director. In these roles, they contributed to the organization's mission by developing and directing programs related to community development.

In 2019, Cathy became the Chief of Staff at the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, where they provided operational support and facilitated the organization's overall strategic goals until 2020. That same year, they joined The New York Immigration Coalition as the Vice President of Operations, overseeing the organization's operational initiatives.

Currently, Cathy is working as the Chief Program Officer at Hot Bread Kitchen, a position they have held since 2021. In this role, they are responsible for leading and managing the organization's programs.

Cathy Kim pursued their education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Diplomacy and World Affairs from Occidental College, from 1998 to 2002. Later, they attended Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation, where they obtained a Master's degree in Urban Planning (MUP) from 2007 to 2009.
