Kyra Chamberlain's work experience begins in 1999 as a Patient Care Coordinator at CVS Caremark. Kyra then worked as a Research Associate at Group Dimensions International from 1990 to 2005. In 2000, they became a Patient Care Coordinator at Portland Professional Pharmacy/NMHC Ascend, where they designed and launched pediatric Synagis and growth hormone service programs.
Kyra moved to Maine Medical Center in 2006, working as a Clinical Nurse II in the medical/surgical oncology unit. During this time, they provided various aspects of nursing care, including perioperative, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and wound care. Kyra also specialized in caring for stem cell transplant recipients, neutropenic patients, and providing palliative and end-of-life care.
In 2009, Kyra joined Apothecary by Design as a Nurse Care Coordinator, where they developed and launched pharmacy-based vaccine clinics and served as a liaison between patients, prescribers, and payers.
From 2011 to 2015, they worked at the University of Southern Maine as a Project Manager for the CHIPRA Quality Demonstration Grant. In this role, they managed the five-year grant, focusing on policy change, advocacy, and quality improvement in pediatric practices across Maine.
Returning to Apothecary by Design in 2015, Kyra became the Director of Clinical Programming and later the VP of Operations. Kyra partnered with various stakeholders to ensure safety, quality, and clinical excellence, and developed training programs for healthcare professionals.
Most recently, Kyra Chamberlain joined Hospice of Southern Maine in 2019 as the Clinical Operations Director. Kyra supervises a team of clinical managers and works with various departments to deliver high-quality hospice services. Kyra also collaborates on public-facing messaging, materials, community outreach programs, and educational presentations.
Kyra Chamberlain has a strong educational background in the field of healthcare. Kyra obtained their Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Southern Maine in 2006. Following that, they pursued further education and completed their Master of Science in Health Policy & Management at the Muskie School of Public Service, also at the University of Southern Maine, in 2013. Additionally, Kyra obtained their Registered Nurse certification from the State of Maine in February 2007. Kyra has demonstrated their commitment to professional development by recently obtaining the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality® (CPHQ) certification from the National Association for Healthcare Quality in February 2022.
