Mike Dempster began their work experience in 1991 at Horizon Community Church - Horizon Christian Schools where they served as the IT Systems Director and later as the Head Coach for Softball from 2007 to 2012. In 1994, they also became a Softball Coach at Tualatin Youth Softball, a role they held until 2016. Additionally, they worked as a Sr Accountant at Horizon Community Church from 1991 until 2013.

Mike Dempster obtained their Associate's Degree in Transfer Degree - Business from Clackamas Community College, where they studied from 2014 to 2020. Prior to that, they attended Tigard Sr High School from 1974 to 1977, but no degree or field of study was specified.
