Joel Alpern has extensive experience in leadership roles within the non-profit and educational sectors, currently serving as Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at Holden Forests & Gardens since August 2018. Alpern has held various positions at the organization, including Interim Co-President & CEO and Chief of Education and Guest Experience. Prior experience includes serving as Director of Exhibits at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History from October 2006 to August 2018 and as Exhibits & Design Manager and Exhibit Production Supervisor at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum from February 2001 to October 2006. Earlier in their career, Alpern worked as a Production Artist at Arnold Worldwide in 2000-2001. Alpern holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1998-2000) and a BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art (1992-1997).
