Joe Beggs has a diverse range of work experience. Joe is the Founder and CEO of HIVE Medical, where they develop smart sensors for home infusion therapy. As the Founder and CEO of GenAssist, they designed an implant that converts into muscle. Joe also worked as a Laboratory Technician at Washington University McKelvey School of Engineering. At Washington University in St. Louis, they served as the LEAP Project Leader, winning funding for the commercialization of technology for wirelessly powering wearable devices. Additionally, Joe worked as a Fellow at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, contributing to the development of brain-computer interfaces. Joe also held the position of Director of Strategy at Sling Health, working on expanding the organization to other campuses across the US. Joe's experience includes being a Senior Design Project Co-Leader and Speaker at TEDxWUSTL, as well as holding leadership roles in various student organizations, including the Biomedical Engineering Society and Engineers Without Borders USA.
Joe Beggs completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. Joe attended the university from 2018 to 2020. Before that, they pursued their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biophysics from Grinnell College, where they studied from 2015 to 2019. Joe completed their secondary education at Notre Dame Regional High School from 2011 to 2015. In addition to their academic qualifications, they also obtained certifications in "Protecting Human Research Participants" from the National Institutes of Health in May 2016, and certifications in "Dry Suit Diver" and "Open Water Diver" from Scuba Schools International in March 2015.
