Val Cowan is an experienced professional in software engineering and education, currently serving as a Manager of Software Engineering focused on the Linux Kernel at Red Hat since February 2022. Cowan also holds positions as an Adjunct Instructor at Calhoun Community College and previously at Lawson State Community College, teaching undergraduate computer science courses. As a Technical Consultant at Hire Runner, Cowan assists agencies in optimizing organizational and engineering systems. The founder of STEMoneers, an organization dedicated to providing STEM educational resources to underserved communities, Cowan has held various engineering roles at companies such as Addepar, IERUS Technologies Inc, Daily Kos, Integration Innovation Inc., and Lockheed Martin. Cowan earned a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from the Florida Institute of Technology between 2009 and 2012.
