Umar Iqbal, Ph.D., P. Eng., is an Associate Teaching Professor and Assistant Clinical Professor at Mississippi State University since January 2018, and serves as the Faculty Advisor for the MSU EcoCAR EV Challenge Team at the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems. As a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) since January 2016, and a Senior Member of IEEE since December 2012, Umar has extensive experience in academia and engineering. Previous positions include Clinical Professor at the University of Ottawa, Assistant Professor (Adjunct) at Queen's University, Research Fellow at the Royal Military College of Canada, and roles in product leadership at Modern DSP Technologies Inc. and Trusted Positioning Inc. Umar holds a Doctorate in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Queen's University and multiple master's degrees in related fields.
