Dr. Geoffrey Lifferth

Chief Medical Officer at HighPoint Health System

Dr. Geoffrey Lifferth has extensive work experience in the medical field. Dr. Geoffrey started their career in 2003 as an Attending Physician at Cumberland Emergency Physicians. In 2005, they joined EPAS- Emergency Physicians at Sumner and LifePoint Hospitals. In 2007, they joined Vanderbilt University School of Medicine as an Assistant Clinical Professor in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Geoffrey also served as the Business Director at Emergency Physicians at Sumner from 2013 to 2022. From 2013 to 2018, they held various positions at Sumner Regional Medical Center, including Chief of Staff, Chair of the Ethics Committee, and Vice Chief of Staff. In 2018, they became the Chief Medical Officer at Sumner Regional Medical Center and joined the board of directors at Tennessee AAEM. In 2022, they moved to HighPoint Health System as the Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Geoffrey Lifferth attended Brigham Young University from 1987 to 1993, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in History. Dr. Geoffrey then pursued further education at the University of Tennessee-Health Science Center College of Medicine from 1993 to 1997, earning a Medical Doctorate (MD) degree in Medicine. Following that, Dr. Lifferth attended Harvard Medical School from 1997 to 2001, completing a residency in Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine, specializing in Emergency Medicine. In terms of additional certifications, they became Board Certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine in 2003. Dr. Geoffrey also obtained the Certified Board for Professionals in Patient Safety (CPPS) certification in 2018.
