Liz Word currently serves as the Dean for Academic Pathways & Student Learning Resources at Highline College, where responsibilities include managing guided pathways within Academic Affairs and collaborating across divisions to enhance student support. With extensive experience in higher education, Liz has held roles such as Interim Associate Dean for Guided Pathways and Tenured Faculty in Communication Studies, also coordinating the Communication Studies Department. Liz has a strong commitment to community engagement, demonstrated through leadership roles with the African American Leadership Forum of Greater Seattle and the Umoja Black Scholars program. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Communications from Washington State University, along with doctoral coursework in Education Leadership & Policy Studies at the University of Washington.
