Dr. Markus Klimmer has had a long and varied career in the public and private sectors. In 1992, they began working as a Principal at Booz Allen Hamilton. This was followed by a stint at McKinsey & Company from 2000 to 2008, where they worked as a Partner and Head of Public Sector. From 2008 to 2016, they served as Chief Economic Advisor to Minister Steinmeier at the Auswärtiges Amt/Foreign Office. Dr. Markus then moved to the Hertie School of Governance in 2017 as a Guest Lecturer. In 2020, they became Co-Owner of DALUMA. In 2021, they were appointed stv Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender - Deputy Chairman and Co-Founder of HH2E. Additionally, they have been an Artistic Advisor at the Prague National Opera, Prague State Opera since 2019.
Dr. Markus Klimmer's education history began in 1983 with the completion of their Abitur from LOG Bruchköbel. Dr. Markus then attended The Philipp University of Marburg from 1983 to 1985, studying Political Sciences. In 1985, they moved to The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to continue their studies in Political Science. From 1986 to 1989, they attended the University of Hamburg, where they earned a Diploma in Political Sciences. Dr. Markus then moved to the United States to the University of California, Los Angeles, where they studied Public Administration from 1988 to 1989. Finally, Dr. Klimmer attended The Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg from 1990 to 1992, where they earned their Dr.phil. in Political Science.
