Nameer Kirma has extensive work experience in the field of cancer research and women's health. Nameer co-founded Hera Biotech in 2020 and served as the Co-Founder. Prior to that, they worked at UT Health San Antonio from 2004 to 2014, where they held roles such as Associate Professor and Director. Nameer specialized in women's health, cancer research on endometrial cancer, cervical cancer, and breast cancer, as well as inflammatory gynecologic diseases. Nameer also conducted research on obesity pathways and epigenetic reprogramming of endometrial cells. Nameer organized and chaired sessions in the Multiscale Cancer Systems Biology Symposium and published articles in various scientific journals. In 2015, they became the U54 Cancer Systems Biology Outreach Program Leader at UT Health San Antonio, focusing on enhancing understanding of epigenomic and chromatin interactions in cancer drug resistance. In 2018, they co-founded the Martial Arts Wellness Group, aiming to bring martial arts and wellness activities under one roof. Additionally, they founded and served as the Head Instructor at Good Spirit Tai Chi Chuan, offering Tai Chi and Chi Kung instruction. Nameer has also worked as an Instructor of Endocrinology and a Postdoctoral fellow at Emory University.
Nameer Kirma completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Breast Cancer at Emory University School of Medicine from 1998 to 2003. Previous to that, they obtained a PhD in Molecular Biology from Georgia State University, which they pursued from 1990 to 1997. In 1984, Nameer Kirma earned a BS in Biology from Emory University.
