Jennifer McGarvey has work experience in various roles and companies. Jennifer worked at Sosei Heptares from May 2016 to December 2019, first as a Research Scientist and then as a Senior Scientist I. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Pittsburgh from February 2013 to December 2015, focusing on GPCR biology and membrane trafficking. Jennifer also worked as an Industrial Placement Student at GSK from September 2006 to August 2007.

Jennifer McGarvey completed their high school education at Bearsden Academy from 1997 to 2003. Jennifer then pursued a Masters in Science (MSci) degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Glasgow from 2003 to 2008. Following this, they attended the University of Bristol and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular Neuroscience from 2008 to 2012.
