Billy Fung is a seasoned ML Engineer currently leading the machine learning team at Hectre, focusing on developing computer vision algorithms for the agriculture sector. With extensive experience as a Head Honcho for a self-owned business, Billy specializes in creating business tools and delivering data insights using Python and R. Prior roles include Lead Machine Learning Engineer at Boxer, where Billy oversaw the full data stack, MLOps tools, and model deployment, and Lead Software Engineer at emhTrade, contributing to backend systems for New Zealand's first peer-to-peer electricity retailer. Earlier career milestones include co-founding DVe Technologies and working as a reliability systems engineer at Research In Motion, complemented by academic support at UBC and experience in the Royal Canadian Army. Billy holds a degree in Engineering Physics from The University of British Columbia, obtained between 2008 and 2014.
