Mahendra Durai is senior vice president, chief technology officer of Hearst. In this role, he partners with all Hearst corporate entities and businesses across media and information and services industries, enabling their growth and transformation goals. Durai is also responsible for Hearst Technology Services, the IT function of Hearst. He joined in 2019 as chief information officer, overseeing enterprise wide IT strategy and effective delivery of IT services, accelerating the adoption of digital capabilities across the company.
Before joining Hearst, from 2011 to 2019, Durai served as senior vice president and chief information technology officer of CA Technologies, now part of Broadcom. At CA Technologies, Durai was responsible for the organization’s IT strategy, enabling the digital transformation of the company from an on-premise software vendor to a hybrid offering of SaaS and on-premise software.
Prior, Durai worked at BMC Software where he served as vice president of IT and then vice president of consulting. In this P&L role, he started and led a global services practice focused on enabling business and IT process transformation for FORTUNE 500 clients.
Durai previously served as an advisor to multiple startups affiliated with Springboard Enterprises, whose mission is to accelerate the growth of entrepreneurial companies led by women.
Durai earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the National Institute of Technology in Trichy, India and an MBA from the University of Texas at El Paso. He was also awarded the Advanced Certificate for Executives in Management, Innovation and Technology from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
