Garland Kan has had extensive experience as a consultant and business owner in the field of Kubernetes cloud infrastructure. In 2015, they founded and owned DevOps Services LLC, where they provided consulting services for various projects, including transforming applications from a Chef-based infrastructure to a Kubernetes infrastructure.
From 2016 to 2018, Garland worked as a Kubernetes infrastructure consultant for Tillster, Inc., Apteligent, and Wercker, where they assisted in transitioning their infrastructure to container-based systems. Garland successfully increased server utilization rates, decreased costs, and improved local development environments in these organizations.
In 2017, Garland worked as a DevOps consultant at Guardant Health, leading the implementation team in transferring local genome sequencing data to AWS. Garland also designed and built infrastructure, including a Kubernetes platform for running web workloads, automated CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring and visibility packages.
Garland also served as a Kubernetes consultant at Leanplum from 2018 to 2019, where they guided the company in building a highly scalable infrastructure on AWS using containers and Kubernetes.
In 2019, Garland joined HealthTap as a Kubernetes cloud infrastructure consultant, where they were responsible for moving their infrastructure from Chef to Terraform and implementing a container-based infrastructure running on Kubernetes.
Currently, Garland is the CEO and Co-Founder of ManagedKube, a company they founded in 2018, which focuses on providing Kubernetes-related services.
Garland Kan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications Management from DeVry University in 2001.
