Nancy Cheng

Public Programs Manager at Heal the Bay

Nancy Cheng has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles.

Nancy currently works at Heal the Bay as a Public Programs Manager, a position they have held since May 2021. Prior to this, they were an MPA Watch Intern at the same organization from February 2021 to May 2021.

From October 2020 to August 2021, Nancy worked as a CivicSpark AmeriCorps Climate & Energy Fellow at CivicWell. In this role, they contributed to climate and energy-related projects.

Nancy also gained valuable experience working at the City of San José as a Climate Smart Fellow from October 2020 to June 2021. Nancy assisted residents in complying with energy and water use regulations and managed the benchmarking help desk.

Starting in September 2018, Nancy served as a Captain and Principal Investigator at Havili until September 2020. Nancy led investigations in this role.

In November 2019, Nancy participated in the UNLEASH - Innovation lab for SDGs as a Global SDG 13: Climate Action Talent.

Nancy's previous work experience includes being a Program Associate at the Climate Action Reserve from September 2017 to August 2018. Nancy also worked at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology from November 2014 to July 2016 in conservation science and outreach roles, as well as at the Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences as a Research Assistant from February 2016 to June 2016.

Moreover, they served as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine from May 2015 to June 2016 and as an Education and Outreach Coordinator and Animal Keeper at EFBC's Feline Conservation Center from May 2014 to August 2014.

Nancy Cheng completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Animal Science and Natural Resources at Cornell University from 2012 to 2016. In 2016, they participated in the Center for Wildlife Management Studies in Tanzania, Africa at The School for Field Studies. Nancy also attended The Webb Schools from 2008 to 2012. Additionally, they obtained certifications in Open Water Diver from PADI in February 2019 and Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED from the American Red Cross in October 2021.
