Sim Mirande has extensive experience in special education and recreational program leadership, currently serving as a Special Needs Program Leader at the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District since November 1981. In this role, Sim works with 110 developmentally disabled adult students at Sorensdale Recreation Center, focusing on teaching basic life skills and gardening. Prior experience includes a position as a teacher for adults with special needs at Hayward Unified School District from February 1993 to June 2009, where Sim taught various subjects, including gardening, math, reading, writing, physical fitness, computers, ceramic arts, photography, and relationship skills. Sim holds an AA degree in Recreation, Photography, Business, and Special Needs Education from Chabot College (1980-1983) and furthered education at San Jose State University from 2006 to 2009.
