Mark MacDonald has worked in various roles within the field of eDiscovery and business development. Mark began their career in 2001 as the Director of Client Services for Superior Group and Glacier Systems. In 2004, they worked as a Sales Manager for Williams Lea and also held a role as an eDiscovery & Document Management Sales and Consulting professional for Bowne. In 2007, MacDonald joined Business Intelligence Associates, Inc. (BIA) as the VP of Sales, where they contributed to the design and implementation of fully-managed eDiscovery solutions. Their responsibilities at BIA also included business development and creating comprehensive solutions for legal data lifecycle management. In 2018, MacDonald was promoted to the role of SVP Business Development at BIA. In 2007, they also started working at HaystackID as the VP of Enterprise and Strategic Accounts.

Mark MacDonald, CEDS received their Bachelor's degree in Economics and History from Florida State University, where they studied from 1990 to 1995. Prior to their university education, Mark attended Barron G. Collier High School from 1985 to 1988.

In addition to their academic achievements, Mark has obtained several certifications. Mark completed the "Cybersecurity Awareness: Security Overview" program offered by LinkedIn in February 2019. In September 2018, they completed the "Gaining Skills with LinkedIn Learning" and "How to Use LinkedIn Learning" courses, both provided by LinkedIn. Mark also earned the CEDS certification from the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS) in October 2012.
