Bernie Gabin has a diverse range of work experience spanning several industries. Currently, they are employed as a Senior Data Scientist at HaystackID, where they are responsible for developing infrastructure and analytics for Legal eDiscovery. Bernie also analyzes Data Breach incidents to facilitate timely notifications and develops ML/AI tools to automate data processing tasks.
Prior to this, Bernie worked as a Data Scientist at the National Security Agency, where they developed analytics for geospatial Big Data sets and conducted root cause analysis. Bernie also provided briefings to upper management on system summaries and technical overviews.
Before joining the National Security Agency, Bernie was an Artificial Intelligence Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman for two years.
In 2017, Bernie worked as a Patent Examiner at USPTO, evaluating patent applications related to machine learning and artificial intelligence systems. Bernie applied patent law to determine the novelty and originality of developments in the field.
During their time at universities, Bernie gained research and teaching experience. Bernie worked as a Research Assistant at the Ashton Graybiel Spatial Orientation Lab at Brandeis University from 2009 to 2016, and as a Research Assistant at the Astrophysics Research Group at Brandeis University from 2007 to 2009.
Additionally, Bernie served as a Teaching Assistant at the Physics Department at Tufts University in 2013, where they assisted Dr. Kenneth Lang in the "Introduction to Astronomy" class, grading exams and editing a new textbook.
Bernie Gabin's education history begins with their Bachelor's Degree in Physics and Astronomy, which they obtained from the University of Maryland from 2002 to 2006. Following this, they pursued a Master's Degree in Physics at Brandeis University from 2006 to 2008. Building on their previous achievements, Bernie then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics at Brandeis University from 2009 to 2016.
