Doug Smith has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Doug is currently the Founder and CEO of Hawthorne Capital, a successful private equity firm specializing in buying, subdividing, and selling rural Texas land. With over 5,000 acres of land bought and sold and gross sales exceeding $50M, Hawthorne Capital has been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work.

Prior to establishing Hawthorne Capital, Doug founded JDS Holdings, where they successfully bought and sold over 100 houses and 1,000 acres of rural land using their own capital, bank financing, and private lenders. Doug continues to invest passively in various companies and alternative assets.
