Lucy Fergus has extensive experience in the medical field, specifically in geriatric medicine. Lucy has worked as a Private Geriatrician for Ageing Well Ltd since December 2019. Prior to that, they served as the Medical Director for Older Peoples Health at Hawkes Bay DHB starting in April 2018. Lucy also held several roles at Hawke's Bay District Health Board, including Head of Department for Older Persons Health, Clinical Lead for the Engage Service, Geriatrician, and Medical Director for Older Persons Health. Lucy'stenure at Hawke's Bay DHB began in November 2008 and is ongoing. Before joining Hawke's Bay DHB, Lucy worked at Auckland DHB as an Advanced Trainee Registrar in Geriatric Medicine from November 2006 to October 2008. Lucy also served as a Specialist Registrar in Geriatric Medicine at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from February 2005 to August 2006. Lucy began their medical career as a Resident Medical Officer at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne from February 2002 to January 2005.

Lucy Fergus completed their Bachelor of Human Biology and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from The University of Auckland between 1995 and 2000. Lucy then pursued their specialization in General Medicine and Geriatric Medicine at The Royal Australasian College of Physicians, where they obtained a degree in FRACP from 2005 to 2009. Additionally, Lucy Fergus attended Francis Health in 2019 to complete the Clinical Director's Course, with a focus on leadership.
