Lucas Joppa currently serves as the Senior Managing Director and Chief Sustainability Officer at Haveli Investments, focusing on sustainability and AI strategies to achieve Net Zero from Fund One. Concurrently, Lucas Joppa holds the position of Professor Adjunct at Yale University. Previous experience includes over a decade at Microsoft, where Lucas Joppa was the first Chief Environmental Officer, formulating sustainability initiatives that aimed for carbon negativity and other environmental goals. Lucas Joppa also founded the AI for Earth program, directing significant investments in AI applications for environmental challenges. Additionally, Lucas Joppa worked as a Computational Ecologist at Microsoft Research and was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow at Duke University. Early career experience includes serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Lucas Joppa earned a PhD in Ecology from Duke University and a B.S. in Wildlife Ecology & Zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
