George Weatherill is an Engineer with Haruko since 2022. Prior to that, they were a Senior Algorithm Designer with Capita from 2020 to 2022, where they were part of the team responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of multiple new algorithms and machine learning-based data pipelines for enforcement of the TV License for the BBC. Their primary focus was the design, implementation, testing and deployment of a suite of Operational Research based Python/SQL algorithms for visit allocation, route planning, mapping and performance modelling for enforcement officers. George also designed and implemented a ground-up rebuild of the Visit Allocation Algorithm, incorporating highly efficient OpenStreetMap-based routing, parallel processing and officer-wise customisation based on historical performance modelling.

From 2010 to 2019, they were a Research Mathematician and Team Leader with ThinkTank Maths Limited. As a member of the research team, their responsibilities included undertaking mathematical research on problems where the shortcomings of existing mathematical formalisms, models or algorithms presented a major obstacle to clients across a wide range of sectors, including aerospace, defense, energy, finance and transport, co-authoring technical reports, documentation and presentation material, scoping potential new projects by assessing pre-existing literature, analysing example datasets and interacting with Subject Matter Experts in Industry and Academia, collaborating within a team through regular discussions, presentations and technical documentation, prototyping algorithms and ideas in multiple programming languages, delivering project outputs, in the forms of technical documentation and software, within deadlines, and performing research into personally selected mathematical challenges or open problems.

As Research Team Leader, they were also responsible for planning and organising researcher task assignments alongside the company Project Manager, liaising between research team and the company management on project scopings, progress and updates, writing and presenting all technical presentations for on-going or completed to clients, writing and presenting case study overviews of prior projects to potential clients, partners or collaborators across Europe, North America and the Middle East, contributing technical sections for project tenders, proposals and contracts, as well as participate in contract negotiations as technical representative, performing technical interviews, setting up and maintaining the hardware and software for multiple internal data and knowledge management systems, and representing the company at career and outreach events, as well as writing and heading multiple workshops.

George Weatherill has a well-rounded educational history. George completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from the University of Southampton between 2006 and 2010. George also earned a Master's degree in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge between 2005 and 2006. Their undergraduate education was also completed at the University of Cambridge, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Pure and Applied Mathematics between 2002 and 2005.
