Vijay Gaddam started their career in 2007 as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Computer Lab Assistant at Northern Illinois University. vijay then worked as a Programmer Analyst at VIRTUOSO Technologies from February 2008 to May 2010. Following that, they joined HMSA in June 2010 as a Software Engineer and was promoted to Senior Software Engineer in March 2013. While at HMSA, they designed and engineered SOAP and REST web services, automated builds and deployments using TFS and WebDeploy technologies, and developed one-way queuing services on WCF+MSMQ. In December 2014, they joined Hart InterCivic as a Senior Software Engineer.

Vijay Gaddam completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Mechanical Engineering at Osmania University from 2002 to 2006. After that, they pursued a Master's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Northern Illinois University from 2006 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained several certifications, including Data Structures from Coursera in June 2017, Algorithmic toolbox from the University of California, San Diego & Higher School of Economics in January 2017, and Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer - Web Applications from Microsoft in April 2014. vijay also received certifications in Data Scientist's toolbox, Exam 480: Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3, Machine Learning, and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist - WCF. Vijay Gaddam also holds an edX Verified Certificate for Introduction to Python for Data Science, although the month and year of obtaining this certification are not specified.
