André Lopes has extensive work experience in the field of software engineering. André started in 2018 as a Big Data Engineering Intern at Xpand IT, where they developed a Long Running Spark Apps Controller. This involved creating a system that allowed users to deploy and monitor Spark Apps, with automatic restarts in case of failure.

In 2019, André worked as a Research Assistant at NOVA LINCS - NOVA Laboratory for Computer Science. Here, they focused on implementing an earth observation metadata repository as part of their Master's Thesis. This involved working with distributed systems, database systems, data modeling, and remote sensing technologies.

From 2020 to 2022, André worked at bet365 as a Junior Software Developer. André was part of the Core Systems Team and contributed to the development of the Cash Out feature. Their responsibilities included working on a highly concurrent, low latency, and resilient system that processed real-time prices for customers and millions of concurrent bets and users. André also played a crucial role in ensuring high availability by ensuring the system quickly recovered from crashes.

Most recently, in 2022, André joined Happening as a Software Engineer.

André Lopes pursued their education at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from 2014 to 2017. André continued their academic journey at the same institution and completed a Master's degree in Computer Science from 2017 to 2019.
