Walter (Mike) McDermott is a seasoned academic with extensive experience in physics and astronomy. Currently serving as a Professor of Physics and Astronomy and Dean of the Faculty at Hampden-Sydney College since July 1998, McDermott previously worked as an Astrophysicist at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian from October 1995 to July 1998. McDermott holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics, a Master's degree in Physics, and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Teaching, all from Old Dominion University.
